Madisonville, TN- #12 Berea returned to the diamond for their final games of the regular season over the weekend. The team's final doubleheader of the season came on the road against the Hiwasse College Tigers.

The first game saw the Mountaineers fall behind quickly as Hiwasse scored two runs over the first two innings to take a 2-0 advantage. Even though Berea was able to get four hits in the game, the team was unable to turn those hits into runs as the opposing pitching held the Mountaineers in check. No more runs were scored in the game as Berea fell in the first game 2-0.

Andrew Akins, Cambridge Dacci, Nathaniel Summey and Joshua Works all finished with one hit in the game for the Mountaineers. Griffen Norris started on the mound for Berea, pitching the entire game for the team.

The offense for Berea continued to be stifled by the pitching of Hiwasse as the team saw themselves trailing 6-0 after three innings. The home Tigers scored five more runs over the remainder of the game to win the contest 11-0, sweeping the doubleheader.

Akins, Devin Belleville and Works were the only batters for the Mountaineers to collect a hit for the team. Michael Smither started the game on the bump for the team.

With the conclusion of the regular season, #12 Berea (14-26) will wait for bid selection day to see if they are one of eight at-large bids for the 2017 USCAA Baseball National Championship Tournament. Bid selection will be on Monday, May 8th.
