Berea, KY- The Berea College Baseball team hosted Johnson University on Monday afternoon. The Mountaineers bat's came alive and put it to the royals over the 9 inning contest. Berea won 11-3.

Berea came out slow for the first 2 innings, remaining scoreless with the royals. In the top of the 3rd, Johnson University got on the board. Berea needed to respond; after a quick, first two innings, Berea evened it back up in the bottom of the 3rd with a RBI from, sophomore Ty Williams. The two squads were back and forth through the 4th as well, with both the Royals and Mountaineers scoring 1 in each halves of the inning. The 5th inning is when Berea decided to take the game over. Williams singled in Eads, Crowe then doubled in Williams, and Bottom singled in Crowe. The 6th was more of the same for Berea, as 4 more runs came to score. The 7th saw Berea's last scoring inning, but it was well enough for Josh Wilson and T.C. Eads to finish the jobs in the 8th and 9th.

Berea combined for 11 runs on 13 hits. Freshman, Isaac Peters, contributed 1. Sophomores, T.C. Eads (4-4), Ty Williams (1), and Tanner Crowe (1), combined for 6. Juniors, Cam, Dacci (1), and Nick Bottom (2), had 3. Finally, Seniors, Josh Wilson (2), and Andrew Akins (1), combined for 3.

On the bump, a lot of Mountaineers saw innings. Griffen Norris started the first 3, followed by Brendan Grider (Winning Pitcher) with 3 more. Josh Wilson provided 2.2 more quality innings, striking out 5; and T.C. Eads, 0.1, got the last out by striking out the Royals last batter.

Berea will be back in action this weekend, March 2nd and 3rd at Lagrange College. The double-header on Saturday, begins at 2:00pm. Sunday's start will take place at 2:00pm.
