BEREA, KY- The Berea College Baseball team hosted in-state rival, Centre College in a one game exhibition Tuesday. The Mountaineers put together a solid effort, but were defeated by the Colonels in the 8-inning contest, 15-5. The Colonel's victory in this game brings the series record to 3-1 on the season, in Centre's favor.

Berea once again utilized much of their pitching staff in the non-conference, mid-week matchup. Sophomore T.C. Eads was on the bump to toss his 5th start of the year. Eads recorded 5 innings and struck out 3. Following Eads, a slew of Mountaineers took foot on the rubber; Sophomore Baylor Manire, Freshman Zach Perrin, Freshman Jerimiah Bolon, and Sophomore Logan Gayheart, each came onto to log innings for Berea.

The Mountaineers combined for 5 runs on 11 hits. 4 Mountaineers had multi-hit performances (Senior Andrew Akins, Sophomores Tanner Crowe, T.C. Eads, and Logan Gayheart). Nick Bottom, Ty Willimas, and Isaac Peters, each also contributed hits. However, the common theme of the season still haunted Berea. Walks, errors, and "freebies" allowed the Colonels countless opportunities to extend and keep the lead. The final resulted in a 15-5 Centre victory.

Berea will be back in action this weekend traveling to conference opponent, Pfeiffer University. The Falcons and Mountaineers will dual it out over the course of the weekend series, with Saturday's contests featuring a double-header. The opening game is set for 1:00pm.
