#12 Mountaineers Score 17 Straight Points in Second Half, Winning on the Road at Spalding

Louisville, KY- The men's basketball returned to the road this evening as they took on the Golden Flashes of Spalding University in Louisville, KY. #12 Berea overcame a halftime deficit to to win the game 77-62, moving their record to 6-3.

As the game got under way, the first points for the Mountaineers came from senior Richard Parker, as his layup tied the game 2-2. The tie broke in favor of Spalding as they scored six straight points to go ahead 8-2. Berea shot their way back into it though as junior Corey Wise's jump shot moved the Mountaineers to within three, 13-10. Four straight points from the free throw line by senior Anthony Myrks-Brewer put Berea within one point of the lead, 21-20. Freshman Terique Miller hit a three-point jump shot as time expired to make the score 27-24 as the teams went to the locker room for halftime.

Senior Dyonta Bizzle-Brown's three-point jumper to open the second half sparked a 25-2 run for the Mountaineers over the first seven minutes to push Berea ahead by 20 points, 49-29. The largest lead of the game for the Mountaineers came with 10:02 remaining in the game as Parker's layup gave Berea a 28 point advantage, 61-33. The Mountaineers used 64.3% shooting in the second half and 10-11 free throw shooting to win their fourth game in a row.

Parker led the scoring efforts for Berea, finishing with 26 points. Also in double figures scoring for the Mountaineers was Myrks-Brewer (15), Wise (14) and Miller (11). Sophomore Jair Jackson was the team leader on the boards with ten. Myrks-Brewer finished with four steals while sophomore Stephen Butts led the team in assists with four.

The team goes back on the road once again for another in-season exhibition game against NCAA Division II University of Virginia-Wise. The game, scheduled for Thursday, is set to tip-off at 7:00 PM. All the action can be seen here.
