Mountaineers Fall Short To USA South Top Ranked Maryville College

Maryville, TN- The Berea College men's basketball team traveled to Maryville College to take on the USA top ranked Scots.  The Mountaineers fought hard but in the end lost to the Scots 70-61.  This brings Berea's record to 6-11 and 3-7 in conference play.

Berea went into half time down 26-24.  Freshman guard Deandre Lightfoot led the Mountaineers in the first half with 7 points.  The Mountaineers only shot 29% from the field in the first half but out rebounded the Scots 22-18.

Berea caught fire in the second half shooting 55.2% from the field and 55.6% from behind the arc.  Maryville had an answer for every shot and in the end the Scots won the game 70-61.  Berea was led by three players scoring in the double-digits.  Michael Embree shot 4-7 and had 13 points, Chris Spratling added 12 points and a game high 9 rebounds and Deandre Lightfoot added 10 points.  Berea finished 25-60 from the floor. 

The Mountaineers hit the road again traveling to USA South Conference member Piedmont College on Saturday, January 27th.  Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00pm.
