Mountaineers Drop A Close One to Scots, 68-66

Berea, Ky- The Berea College men's basketball team stayed at home this evening to take on the Covenant College Scots.  This was the fourth annual Berea College Carbon Neutral game.  In a close matchup, the Mountaineers could not close and lost to the Scots 68-66.  This brings the Mountaineers record to 7-14 overall and 3-10 in conference play. 

The first half was a back and forth match led by Deandre Lightfoot with 16 points.  Berea shot 42.3% from the field and 50% from the line.  Berea also pulled down 17 rebounds in the first half.  Berea headed into the half down 29-27.

The second half went much like the first with both teams responding to baskets.  With 3.1 seconds left Covenant got a tip in that put them up by 2.  Lightfoot charged down the court and threw up a last second shot that was just barley off giving the 68-66 win to the Scots. 

Berea was led by Terique Miller and Deandre Lightfoot who each had 16 points.   Dyonta Bizzle-Brown added 14 points and led the Mountaineers under the glass with 7 rebounds.  Torell Carter also added 10 points 3 assists and 2 steals.

Berea will be back in action at home this Saturday at 3:00pm taking on conference member Maryville College.
