Berea, KY – The Berea College Men's Basketball Team opened up their season at home on Friday night with a 107-99 victory over the Kentucky Christian University Knights. The Mountaineers got some big contributions from a couple of different freshmen in the season opener as freshmen Isaac Caudill and Andrew Doty led all scorers with 24 points each.

The Mountaineers and the Knights fought back and forth the entire first half and neither team was able to pull away by more than 5 points at any point in the first half. It was the Mountaineers rebounding that kept it close, eliminating second chance opportunities for the Knights.  Berea and KCU went into the locker rooms tied at half-time 45-45.

The second half was still a back and forth contest between these two teams, However, later on in the second half, the Mountaineers began to pull away stretching their lead to as much as 11 at one point. Kentucky Christian fought back late to bring the game back to a two-possession game but a fast break alley-oop from Isaac Caudill to Torell Carter with less than 3 minutes to go seemed to put away the Knights.

Carter finished with 19 points, 13 rebounds, and 9 assists as the Mountaineers start off the season well securing a 107-99 win at home over the Kentucky Christian University Knights. The Mountaineers will be back at home on Tuesday, November 13th to host Boyce College at 7:00 PM.
