Louisville, KY – Despite a poor first half of play, the Berea College men's basketball team found a way to push their winning streak to five straight with a 71-65 victory over the Spalding University Golden Eagles. Torell Carter led the Mountaineers in scoring and rebounding with 24 points and 8 rebounds, while Isaac Caudill poured in 18 points of his own.

The Mountaineers got off to a rough start only shooting 34 percent from the field and 33 percent from three. However, it was the sluggish and careless play of the Mountaineers that really stood out. The Mountaineers had no control over the pace of the game and gave up 17 turnovers in the game. This led to Mountaineers finding themselves down by 4 going into the halftime break.

Coming into the second half, the Mountaineers began to get things rolling a little and find a way to fight back. Berea stepped it up on the defensive end of the court by forcing the Golden Eagles to turn the ball over 10 times in the second half alone. The Mountaineers also started to see the ball go through the net more shooting over 50 percent from the field and from three. This resulted in the Mountaineers escaping on the road with a 71-65 win against Spalding University.

Deandre Lightfoot finished with 10 points and 5 assists, while Andrew Doty provided a lift off the bench with 8 points and 4 rebounds.

The Berea College men's team will be on the road again Tuesday, November 27th as they travel to Midway University seeking their sixth straight win.
