Knoxville, TN- The men's basketball team traveled to Johnson University to take on the Royals, Tuesday evening. The Mountaineers fell on the road to the Royals with a score of 99-75. The loss brings the Mountaineers to the record of 6-3, and a road record of 2-3.

Berea traveled to Knoxville with starting guard and reigning USA South Conference player of the week, Torell Carter, out with an injury. The Mountaineers mustered through the difficulty and Freshman Andrew Doty got the start. Through the first half, Berea started strong and held 23-23 tie entering the under 8 timeout. For the remainder of the half however, Johnson University went on an 11-0 run before the Mountaineers could respond. Going into halftime, Berea trailed the Royals 43-28.   

The Mountaineers never could regain the momentum nor the lead as the Royals went on to outscore the Mountaineers 56-47 in the second half. Some positives – Freshman Isaac Caudill, and Andrew Doty accounted for 38 of Berea's 75 points. Caudill supplying 20 and Doty shooting a sharp 7-9 from the field, finished with 18.

As a team the Mountaineers connected for 39% shooting from 29 makes on 74 attempts. From deep, Berea shot 27%. And from the charity stripe, 41%.

The road loss does not make or break the Mountaineers season, and they will be looking to regain victory Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm, with a conference match up against North Carolina Wesleyan at the Seabury center.
