Berea, KY – The Berea College men's basketball team dropped their third straight game as the Covenant Scots defeat the Mountaineers 75-69 behind the 30 points and 9 rebounds of Will Crumly.

The Mountaineers fell behind early to the Scots despite an excellent defense effort by the Mountaineers. Berea held Covenant to under 40 percent shooting from the field and 17 percent shooting from the three-point line. However, the Mountaineers could not get anything to go on the offensive as they scored a season low 20 points in the first half. The Scots went into the midway break leading 35-20.

The Mountaineers came out a sluggish to start the second half allowing the Scots to jump out to a 20-point lead 3 minutes into the second half. Berea was able to fight back and cut the Scots lead down to 6 points because of a spark off the bench provided by Mitchell Embree who scored 9 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in the second half. Yet, it was too little too late for the Mountaineers and the Scots were able to escape with a 75-69 road victory.

Freshman guard Isaac Caudill led Berea with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Torell Carter scored 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds while Mitchell Embree added 9 points and 8 rebounds for the Mountaineers.

The Berea College men's basketball team will travel to Maryville, TN on Saturday, January 12 to face Maryville College. That game will begin at 2:00 pm.
