Mountaineers Contain Tornados at Home

BEREA, KY. -

The Mountaineers won their first conference game at home this season against Brevard College 71-65.

The Mountaineers got off to a hot start and never looked back holding the lead for the entire game. They started the game on a 16-5 run and continued to make stops on defense. The Mountaineers forced 21 turnovers, scoring 20 points off of turnovers. They Mountaineers had 14 offensive rebounds and scored 20 points off of 2nd chance shots.

The Mountaineers were led by sophomore guard Isaac Caudill (Blackley, KY), who had 19 points and 12 rebounds. Caudill was 6-14 from the field, also going 4-5 on his free throw attempts. Behind Caudill was Torell Carter (Whitesburg, KY) who had 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 steals.

The Tornados were led by Cannon Lamb who had 23 points and 10 rebounds. Lamb shot 9-14 from the field and went 3-5 from the free throw line. Levi Lamb also added 17 points, 3 rebounds and 3 blocks for the Tornados.

The Mountaineers came out on top scoring 34 in the first half and 37 in the second half. Their defense showed-out forcing 21 turnovers and having 9 steals in the game.

Up next, the Mountaineers will play Greensboro College at home (Jan. 11), for their fifth conference game of the season. Tipoff is slated for 2:00 pm.
