Berea College Men's Golf 2014 Preview

Berea College Men's Golf 2014 Preview

Trent Milby takes the reigns of the program and preview's the upcoming golf season.

Berea College, the campus community, the local community and the men's golf team suffered a terrible loss this summer.  Longtime head coach, Thomas Harkleroad, passed away this summer after a battle with cancer.  Harkleroad had been the coach of the team for the last 11 years but had been associated with the college for well over three decades.

Trent Milby, who served as the interim head coach last season, will take over the program on a permanent basis this season.  After losing two seniors from the team, Milby is bringing back a young team featuring two freshman and two sophomores and one one senior.  The Mountaineers will be guided by returners Benjamin Piercefield, Austin Worley and Trevor Humes; but look for talented freshmen Johnny Parrett III and Sung "Kevin" Min Kim to make an immediate impact.  The squad will be trying to earn an invitation to United States Collegiate Athletic Association Championship held in State College, Pennsylvania in mid-October.

The fall golf schedule kicks off for the Berea duffers when they travel to London, KY and scenic and challenging Crooked Creek Course for the Bill Sargent Fall Invitational on Thursday, September 4th.
