Kim Wins USCAA National Championship and Leads Mountaineers to 4th Place FInish

State College, PA - The Berea College golf team headed north to play in the USCAA National Championships this past weekend.  The event featured 18 total teams and a handful of additional athletes. 

Berea's very own Kevin Kim grabbed the 2016 USCAA individual National Championship going -1 for the two day event.  Kim returned to the USCAA Nationals this year and improved his two day total by 12 strokes to earn the National Champion honor.  Penn State Lehigh Valley's Nick Engelman and SUNY Canton's Nolan Reid tied for runner up honors shooting +2. 

The Mountaineers finished 4th overall in the team standing improving from their 8th place finish in 2015.   Berea's team score was 638 just 10 points behind 3rd place Cleary and 15 points behind runner up SUNY Canton.  First year USCAA member Bluefield won the overall team title with a score of 612. 

Austin Worley was the next Berea finisher behind Kim.  Worley finished tied for 18th going +15.  Derrick Lisanby (+19) tied for 26th, Dallas Adkins (+29) tied for 57th and Blade Hampton (+38) tied for 77th. 

The Golf team will wrap up their fall season at home against Alice Lloyd College in the Work College Challenge on October 29th.
