The Berea Golf Team took on The Alice Lloyd Golf Team in the Annual Shovel Match. The Shovel Match is played in the Ryder-Cup style format, in which the first 9 consists of 2-man scramble, and the second 9 consists of 2-man alternate shot. The match took place at Berea's home course, Battlefield Golf Club, and the team was looking to bring The Shovel back to Berea.  Ryan Blevins and Michael Akard were paired together, and came up with two big points for the squad. Evan King and Jeremiah Bolon were paired together, and split the two matches between Alice Lloyd. The last group paired together was Isaiah Bolon and Zach Withers, and also split the two matches against Alice Lloyd. Peyton Browning played the individual match-up, and lost both matches, not attaining a single point for the team. Because Alice Lloyd won the shovel match last year, Alice Lloyd retains the shovel, as in a tie, the defending team retains the shovel.

Berea's golf team travels to Maryville, Tennessee next, playing in the Maryville Fall Invitational. The tournament takes place on October 29th and 30th.
