Berea Drops Two Over the Weekend at the Transy Showcase

Lexington, KY - Berea College men's soccer team headed to Lexington over the weekend to take part in the Transylvania Soccer Showcase.  The Mountaineers were unable to pick up a win over the weekend and returned home with a 0-2-0 season record.

On Friday the Berea took the field to take on the Transylvania Pioneers.  The Mountaineers could not find a rhythm and struggled on both sides of the field in the first half.  The Pioneers took advantage of this and jumped out to a 5-0 lead heading into the second half.  The second half showed little change for the Mountaineers and at the final buzzer the Pioneers walked away with a 10-0 win.

In the second game of the tournament Berea faced the Berry College Vikings.  Both teams ready to play but neither was able to find the goal leaving the score tied at zero heading into the second half of play.  Most of the second half would follow a similar script as the first as both teams battled hard to score.  At the 75:49 mark the Vikings were able to put one in and jumped out to a 1-0 lead with less than fifteen minutes to play in the game.  Berry took advantage of the gained momentum and at the 82:16 mark they were once again able to score increasing their lead to 2-0.  The remainder of the game would go scoreless giving Berry the win over the Mountaineers.

The men and women's soccer teams travel to Louisville, Ky on Wednesday, September 7th to take on the Golden Eagles of Spalding.  The women are scheduled to kickoff at 4:00pm and the men at 6:00pm.
