Mountaineers Win Road Contest 2-0 Against Clermont

Batavia, OH- The men's soccer team looked to get their third win of the season and second win in a row as they traveled to Batavia, OH. The team were visitors to the University of Cincinnati-Clermont.

The offenses for both teams got off to a hot start as the teams combined for 17 shots in the first half (nine for Berea and eight for Clermont) but excellent goalkeeping play from Robby Vollrath held Clermont scoreless. The aggressiveness on offense worked for the Mountaineers as Million Beshah connected with Wesley Saintilnord in the 34th minute to give Berea an 1-0 advantage as the end of the half approached.

As the defense picked up for the Mountaineers, holding Clermont to just three shots, the offense continued to attack. On the strength of seven shots, the insurance goal for Berea came with six minutes remaining in regulation as Dakota Massucco put a ball into the net to give the Mountaineers a 2-0 lead and the third win of the season.

Issac Domenech led the team in shots with four, three of which were on goal. Vallrath finished with 10 saves for the game. The win moves the team's record to 3-10-3 The team finishes the regular season Tuesday, November 1st as they travel to play rival Asbury University. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.
