Berea, KY- The men's soccer team played a game against the Spalding University Golden Eagles under the lights tonight at the Berea College Sports Complex in the rain leftover from Hurricane Irma.

Berea's offense produced opportunities to score early and often in the opening segments of the game as they were able to get a couple of shots off but were not able to put any in the opposing team's net. The defense and goalkeeper for the Mountaineers were able to keep the visiting Golden Eagles out of the net until the 20th minute of the game as Spalding took a 1-0 advantage with a goal. The deficit soon changed to 3-0 as Spalding added two more goals before a fourth goal with seven minutes remaining in the first half gave Spalding a 4-0 halftime lead.

The shots kept coming for Berea as the aggression from the team picked up, as the Blue Crew outshot the Golden Eagles 10-8 in the second half. Even though the Mountaineers were getting more shots off and forced two corner kicks, Berea could not get the ball into the back of the net. Spalding was able to add one more goal to their total and walked off the field with a 5-0 victory. Noah DeHart started in the net for the Mountaineers. Issac Domenech and Issac Mendoza took three shots while Pedro Herrera took five shots in the game as the Blue Crew finished the contest with 16 total shots.

Berea returns to conference play for their next game action as they travel to Danville, VA to play USA South East Division opponent Averett University on Saturday. First touch is scheduled for 4:00 PM and you can see live stats of the contest here.
