Men's Soccer Struggles Against LaGrange

LaGrange, GA- The conclusion of a two-day road trip came today for the men's soccer team after playing Friday afternoon. The game yesterday was played in the state of Alabama and the team traveled to Georgia for today's contest, staying in conference play and taking on the LaGrange College Panthers.

Issac Domenech's shot to put the tying goal on the board after a goal in the in the first couple of minutes for LaGrange went wide of the net. Facing a 2-0 deficit, Pedro Herrera sent a shot to the net which flew high of the goal as the Mountaineers looked to cut into the lead. Berea got one more chance to put a goal on the scoreboard in the first half as Sharman Sugumaran had a header shot go wide before the Mountaineers went into the half trailing 5-0.

Three minutes into the second half, Michael Malpartida took a shot on goal which was saved by the opposing keeper as Berea looked to score. A second shot for Malpartida with the deficit at six went wide of the net. Back-to-back shots from Dorian Del Toro were saved by the goalkeeper as the Mountaineers were unable to overcome the Panthers' lead, falling by a final score of 7-0. Del Toro and Malpartida finished with two shots each while Domenech, Herrera and Sugumaran finished the game with one shot. Noah DeHart and Nicholas Knoster split time in the net for the Blue Crew and combined to make 12 saves on 19 shots on goal.

Berea comes back home to the Berea College Sports Complex on Thursday to honor the lone senior on the team on senior night. The team dips out of conference for the contest as they welcome in-state NCAA Division III opponent Centre College to the field.
