Maryville, TN- The Berea men's soccer team traveled down to Maryville College for their first conference game of the season. The Scots shutout the Mountaineers 5-0. Berea goalie Clay Sheaffer finished with five saves in the loss.

Over the first 45 minutes of the contest, both teams were trading shots, but neither were able to find their mark. Berea's goalie Clay Scheaffer had four saves in the first half, while Maryville goalie Ryan Jorgensen had one save. The Scots dominated the first half in shots 12-5, but each team went into the half evenly squared at 0-0.

The start of the second half was tough on the Mountaineer defense. A hat trick from Maryville's Austin Vineyard, over the span of three minutes starting at the 46:27 minute mark, got the Scots' offense moving. Maryville added another goal in the 57th minute by Randy Reichenberger to make it 4-0 Scots. At 88:30, Maryville tacked on their final goal from Tristan Skelton and seal the 5-0 victory.

The Scots finished with 22 shots to the Mountaineers' seven and had the 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
