Berea, KY – The Berea men's soccer team took on the Huntingdon Hawks at home Saturday in a tough conference match. Issac Domenech and Bedginal Godre both had a goal in the second half to add some energy to the squad, but the Hawks were too much and Huntingdon would go on to win the game 4-2.

The first half was pretty dominant for the Hawks as they took a 2-0 lead after goals at 14:29 and 26:55, both from Kelan LeBlanc. Both goalies, Clay Sheaffer for Berea and Zak Henio for Huntingdon, were kept busy throughout the 45 minute period with Sheaffer making four saves and Henio stopping six. Berea was able to keep the score 2-0 heading into the break.

The offense for both teams came out on fire to start the second half. In the 49th minute, Huntingdon added a goal to make it 3-0, but Berea would show some fight, as the Mountaineers added a goal from Domenech to make it 3-1. Godre followed it up with his own goal for Berea, three minutes later, to cut the Hawks' lead to one with 35 minutes remaining. Things got a little bit heated as yellow cards were exchanged at the 58th minute, but offensively the teams seemed to slow. Huntingdon added their final goal, to get some breathing room, at 83 minute mark from Kabba Jeng and take the 4-2 victory.

The Hawks outshot Berea 23-13 and had the edge in corner kicks, 6-4. Heino finished with seven saves in the win, while his counterpart Sheaffer grabbed three.

Up next, the Mountaineers will travel to Centre College on Tuesday, September 25 for a 7:30 p.m. game time.
