Strong second half lifts Greensboro over Berea

GREENSBORO, Ky. – The Berea men's soccer team hit the road to Greensboro College Saturday afternoon. After a 2-2 tie heading into halftime, the Pride put up three more goals in the second half to take the 5-2 win over the Mountaineers. Berea goalie Clay Sheaffer finished with two saves.

In the first half, the teams exchanged goals over the 45 minute period. Greensboro opened the scoring with a goal from Carlos Barragan at 4:12. Dakota Massucco followed that, at 13:34, with an assist from Joshua Szidik to tie the contest at 1-1. The defenses were busy on both sides of the field with neither team getting many offensive opportunities over the next 20 minutes of play. At 34:59, Greensboro found a hole when a kick from Jordy Briceno rolled past Sheaffer for a Pride goal. Some bad luck for Greenboro at 40:44, helped Berea tie the game at 2-2 after an own goal from the Pride. The teams took the tie into halftime.

Greensboro came out on the attack in the second half, with three goals in the first 10 minutes to take the 5-2 commanding lead that would hold and give them the victory.

The Pride outshot the Mountaineers 14-3 and held the 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.
