Berea, KY- The Berea men's soccer team hosted LaGrange College for their 8th conference game this season at the Berea Sports Complex. Although Berea fought hard and at one point had the lead against LaGrange, the Panthers tied it up with the Mountaineers and won the game in double overtime 2-1.

Berea and LaGrange traded shot attempts throughout the first half with The Mountaineers leading 7-5. Despite 12 total shots over the 45 minute period, LaGrange's goalie Cory Aycock and Berea goalie Nicholas Knoster denied any chances of scoring for either team and the half ended 0-0.

During the second half, the Mountaineers came out strong against the Panthers. Bedginal Godre scored at the 70:19 minute mark, with an assist from Leonardo Fernandez. Berea was able to hold off LaGrange until the 83:35 minute mark, when Jude McEvoy scored for the Panthers and tied up the game. Regulation ended with a 1-1 score and the teams were sent into overtime.

Through a hard fought ten minutes of overtime, Berea and LaGrange managed three shots with none finding the back of the net so a second overtime was forced.

In the second round of OT, the Mountaineers were not able to hold off the Panthers. McEvoy's header scored his second goal of the contest, with an assist from Qua Tucker at the 100:57 minute mark, sealing the deal against Berea and ending the game 2-1 in favor of the LaGrange.

LaGrange outshot Berea 21-17, but Berea had a 5-2 advantage on corner kicks.

Aycock finished with four saves in the win and Knoster stopped six for Berea.

Up next, Berea will be hosting Averett University Saturday, October 13th at 2pm.
