Berea Loses Home Game to Piedmont

BEREA, KY., -- The Berea College Men's Soccer team dropped their home game against Piedmont College 3-1 in a hard fought contest at the BC Sports Complex. The Mountaineers played sound defensively but gave up a penalty kick and a rebound goal to lose 3-1.

The Mountaineers and the Lions played a neck and neck game for the 90 minutes, both having similar amount of shots 19-15, and keeping the game a 1 score game for majority of the game. The first goal was scored on a header by Cameron Earls, assisted by Jose Linares on a corner. The second goal was given up by a penalty kick in the early part of the 2nd half, when Jose Linares easily converted the kick from the spot. Junior Gyamfi was able to quickly bring the Mountaineers back to 1, when he scored a minute after the converted penalty kick. The Mountaineers continued to fight for the equalizer but was unable to capitalize. Malamin Jallow scored the final goal in the 77th minute off of a rebound from the goalkeeper Noah DeHart.

Goalkeeper Noah DeHart ended the game with 4 saves, with all of them coming in the 2nd half. The Mountaineers had 3 shots on goal, with one being scored by Junior Gyamfi.

The Mountaineers will be back in action Saturday October 19 at 3:00 PM against N.C. Wesleyan at Home.
