Coach Rubem Rodriguez took over the Berea College Mountaineer Soccer Program in the fall of 2016 after being a part of the program for two years prior as an assistant coach. He will now be entering his third year at the helm and will be looking forward to continue improving the program on and off the field. Coach Rubem is excited for the opportunities NCAA Division III has in store for the program’s future and the continuous development of his players.

Coach Rubem is a native from Sao Paulo, Brazil and a graduate from the University of the Cumberlands in 2014. Prior to his arrival to the states, Coach Rubem played for the Brazilian soccer club A. D. Sao Caetano and Nacional A.C. He also played at a private university in Sao Palo called Faculdades Metropolitanas Unidas. Rubem then moved to the states to play for Cumberlands on an athletic scholarship for 3 years and earned a degree in Fitness and Sports Management as well as a minor in Exercise Science.

While in Kentucky, Rubem has earned his United States Soccer Federation (USSF) “C” Coaching License, the Premier Diploma with the United Soccer Coaches Association of America, and he also holds a Strength & Conditioning Specialist Certification through National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA). On top of coaching at Berea College, Coach Rubem also coaches for the Kentucky Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP), and assist with Madison United Soccer Association (MUSA) teams. Rubem also owns and operates the Rodriguez Academy where he offers private, small group sessions, youth camps and futsal training to the community. 

Coach Rubem and his wife Kendra reside in Berea, KY. They have one daughter named Mia Grace.
