Huntingdon, AL/LaGrange, GA- The men's tennis team traveled south to play three USA South Conference matches, two against Huntingdon and one against LaGrange. Berea fell short in all three matches losing 9-0 and 8-1 against Huntingdon and 9-0 against LaGrange.
In the first match against Huntingdon Berea fell 9-0. The doubles teams of Michael Malpartida/Dakota Massucco and Brandon Mitchell/Seth Carroll fell 8-1 while the team of Evan Day/ Sam Slater lost 8-0. Brandon Mitchell, Slater and Carroll lost 6-0 in their singles matches. Malpartida lost 6-1 in singles. Massucco and Day fought hard but fell 6-2 in their matches.
In the second match Berea played against the Hawks the Mountaineers fell 8-1. Malpartida/Dakota Massucco and Brandon Mitchell/Seth Carroll fell 8-0 in their double matches. Evan Day/Sam Slater lost 8-5 in a very well-played back and forth match. Mitchell and Massucco lost 6-0 in their singles matches while Day, Carroll and Malpartida lost 6-2. Sam Slater won his match 10-5 to give the Mountaineers their single point of the team match.
The next day Berea traveled to LaGrange to take on the Panthers. The Mountaineers lost to the Panthers 9-0. Day and Slater lost their doubles match 8-0 While Carroll and Mitchell lost 8-1. Malpartida and Massucco played a hard fought match but in the end fell 8-3. Day, Carroll, Mitchell and Malpartida lost in singles 6-0. Massucco lost in singles 6-1 and Slater lost 6-2.
The Mountaineers will be back in action on Tuesday, March 27th taking on the Scots of Maryville College.
