Records Fall as Berea Finishes 4th at Pioneer Invitational

LEXINGTON, KY- The Berea College men's track and field team traveled to Transylvania University for the Pioneer Invitational this past weekend. The men competed very well, earning a 4th place finish overall out of the 12 competing teams.

Within sprints, Anthony Boateng brought home a 9th place finish with a time of 11.39. Teammate Wynn-Jones Mbwambo came in shortly after with a time of 11.40, earning 10th place. Wesley Saintilnord then earned 8th place in the 200m with a PR and time of 22.98. Saintilnord also placed 11th in the 400m with a time of 52.92. Jason Pearson and Boubacar Cherif picked up a huge PR's in the 200m running a times of 24.89 and 25.46.  Hurdler Ethan Harris placed 4th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.03. He was followed by Dave Bell who earned 6th place with a time of 59.60.  The men's 4x100m relay team of Issac Domenech, Aaron Effoe, Anthony Boateng and Wynn-Jones Mbwambo placed 4th overall with a time of 44.59. 

Emmanuel Kemei and Isaiah Dodson put on a show for the spectators in the 1500 running neck and neck down the final straight and finishing less than a half second apart.  Kemei and Dodson's times of 4:00.7and 4:01.08 were both well under the stadium record. Grabbing the 8th and final scoring position in the 1500 was Casey Monti with a time of 4:16.25.  Kemei brought home yet another first place finish and stadium record in the 800m with a time of 1:53.50. He was followed by Tanner Carson who earned 4th place with a time of 1:58.62. Isaiah Dodson then placed 8th with a time of 1:59.87. Sprinter Issac Domenech got out of his comfort zone and competed in the 800m.  Domenech impressed the coaching staff by running a very impressive time of 2:01.80 in his 800m debut.  Then in the 5k, Dylan Watkins placed 8th with a time of 16:50.25. He was followed by Jerrod Arnold who placed 11th with a time of 17:07.32, this was over a minute and ten second PR of Arnold. 

Entering the field, Aaron Lange placed 6th in the javelin with a throw of 41.35m. He was followed by Robin Hauschner who threw 28.55m earning 7th place. Lange continued his success in the hammer throw with a 9th place finish, throwing 32.49m. Jeremy Wild then placed 3rd in the pole vault, with a height of 3.2m. Dave Bell brought home 2nd place in the long jump with a distance of 6.16m.

The Mountaineers ended the night with a 1st place finish in the 4x400 ran by Dave Bell, Issac Domenech, Ethan Harris, and Emmanuel Kemei with a time of 3:25.22

The men's track and field team will travel to Danville, KY this weekend to compete in the Centre Invitational. Look forward to some school records and PRs.
