Mountaineers Have Strong Showing at the Cumberland Invite

WILLIAMSBURG, KY- The Berea College men's track and field team competed in the University of the Cumberlands Invitational this past weekend hosted by the Cumberland Patriots. The Mountaineers had many top finishers both on and off the track.

The distance squad had a successful day of competing. Jeremy Johnson brought home a 2nd place finish in the 10k with a time of 32:59.60. Dylan Watkins placed 7th in the 5k with a time of 16:09.41. Isaiah Dodson earned 1st place in the steeplechase with a PR and time of 9:27.30. In the 1500m, Emmanuel Kemei brought home another 1st place finish for the Mountaineers with a time of 4:05.71. Kemei later hit the track and earned another first place finish in the 800m with a time of 1:56.24. He was followed by Casey Monti, who placed 5th with a time of 2:00.98.

The sprinters continued the heat with many top placements as well. In the 100m, WynnJones Mbwambo placed 10th with a time of 11.51. Anthony Boateng came in shortly after with a time of 11.55, placing 11thWesley Saintilnord earned 9th place in the 200m with a time of 23.28. Domenech placed 12th in the 400m with a time of 52.98. Adding hurdles to the 400m, Ethan Harris placed 4th with a time of 58.81. He was followed by Dave Bell who placed 5th with a time of 59.39.

Bell continued his success on the field. He placed 10th in the long jump with a distance of 5.91m. Aaron Lange then threw the javelin 46.23m for a 3rd place finish.

The 4x400m team of Ethan Harris, Dave Bell, Wesley Santilnord and Corbin Flege ended the meet with a  3rd place finish and time of 3:32.82.

The Mountaineers will travel to Danville, Kentucky this Friday, April 15th, to the Centre Twilight Invitational.
