Mountaineers Finish Regular Season With Impressive Showing at Centre

DANVILLE, KY- The men's track and field team traveled to the Centre Twilight Invitational to finish off their regular outdoor season. The men had an extremely successful end to the season, finishing 5th overall with an overwhelming amount of personal records, season bests, and even a new school record!

The sprint squad left the track with ten PRs and one season best. WynnJones Mbwambo placed 6th in the 100m with a PR of 11.24. He was followed by Anthony Boateng who ran a time of 11.43, placing 9th. Aaron Effoe came in shortly after with a PR of 11.52 for a 12th place finish. In the 200m, Wesley Saintilnord placed 8th with a PR of 22.89. Issac Domenech followed for a 12th place finish and a PR of 23.35. He was followed by Mbwambo, who ran a PR of 23.46. Aaron Effoe also ran a PR of 23.81. Ethan Harris ran a season best in the 200m with a time of 23.99. Domenech continued his PR streak in the 400m with a time of 51.17, placing 10th. He was followed by Saintilnord, who placed 12th with a PR of 51.17. Hurdlers Ethan Harris and Dave Bell continued the sprinters success. Harris placed 3rd in the 400m hurdles with a time of 56.42. Bell placed 4th with a PR of 56.61.

The distance crew continued the success with eight PRs and a new school record! Emmanuell Kemei broke his own record in the 800m previously set earlier this season with a time of 1:52.14, bringing home first place. He was followed by Casey Monti who placed 5th with a PR of 2:00.54. Corbin Flege came in shortly after with a PR of 2:02.10, placing 9th. Caleb Flege then ran a PR of 2:02.81, finishing 12th. Kemei brought home first place and another PR in the 1500m with a time of 3:55.92. In the 5k, Isaiah Dodson ran a PR of 15:06.08 to bring home 4th place. He was followed by Jeremy Johnson who ran a time of 15:48.45, placing 7th. Dylan Watkins came in shortly after with a PR of 15:48.55, finishing 8th. Senior Jerrod "Brock" Arnold finished his season with a PR of 10:41.29 in the steeplechase.

The PRs continued on the field too! In the triple jump, Bell placed 5th with a PR of 12.63m. Bell also placed 4th in the long jump with a distance of 6.45m. Ethan Harris jumped 5.6m, earning 10th place and a season best. Amongst the throwers, Aaron Lange showed out. He earned a PR in both the discus throw and javelin. Lange placed 14th in the discus throw with a distance of 29.32m. He placed 2nd in the javelin with a throw of 48.99m.

The night came to an end with a 2nd place finish from the men's 4x400 relay.  The team was made up of Bell, Domenech, Harris and Kemei.

Qualifying team members will travel to the USCAA National Invitational to continue their success in New York this Friday, April 29th.
