Men's Indoor Track Open Season Up at the University of Indianapolis

Indianapolis, IN – The Berea College men's track and field team opened its 2016-17 campaign this weekend in Indianapolis in the University of Indianapolis Season Opener.  The Mountaineers traveled a partial squad made up of primarily sprinters, jumpers and throwers to kick off the season.

Sophomore Dave Bell had an impressive day on the track and in the field.  His day started with 8th place finish in the 600m run running a time of 1:31.1. Shortly after he sealed up a 7th place finish in the long jump with a leap of 6.22m and a 3rd place finish in the triple jump with a jump of 12.92m.  He ended his day leading off the 4x400 team that finished 8th.

Caleb Flege was one of a few distance runners to compete in the meet.  Flege ran the mile and raced to a personal best of 4:47.60 to finish 12th in the field of 37. 

Aaron Lange grabbed a top 10 finish in the shot put with a throw of 11.27m to finish 10th.  Freshman Ricky Brayton was close behind finishing 14th with a throw of 10.67m.   Aaron returned later in the weight throw and secured another top 10 finish with a throw of 11.33m to finish 5th overall. 

This meet was the only event that the track team had scheduled for the fall semester.  They return back to the track on January 13th and 14th were some of them will travel up the road to Lexington, KY to take part in the University of Kentucky Invitational.
