Mountaineers Post Twenty-One Personal Bests at the Centre Invitational

DANVILLE, KY- This weekend The Berea college men's track team competed in their third outdoor meet at the 2017 Centre Invitational at Centre College. With a total of 17 scoring teams, on the men's side this was one of the largest track and field meets Centre has ever hosted.  The Mountaineers finished 10th as a team with 33 point, just 3 points behind the host, Centre. 

The meet was won by NCAA D3 Case Western with 122 points followed by runner up Ohio Northern with 117.5.  Rounding out the top 3 was Campbellsville with 68.5.
Between both the men and women on Berea's team, there were 34 personal bests seen at Saturday's meet. Most of these performances are all-time personal records (PR) and will be noted with (*) to indicate so.
The men scored in a wide array of events. Sophomore, Aaron Lange scored 6 points by placing 3rd in javelin with a throw of 53.8 meters. Meanwhile, in the 400 meter hurdles, sophomore Dave Bell placed 6th with a time of 57.76.
Distance event scorers included Dylan Watkins (Junior), who placed 4th in the 10000 meter run with a time of 33:19.77*, and Corbin Flege (Sophomore), who placed 3rd in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:08.86*.

Mid-distance scorers contributed another 7 points to the men's side. Senior Casey Monti came in 6th in the 1500 with a time of 4:08.29*. Tanner Carson placed 5th in the men's 800 meter dash with a time of 1:57*.

Berea men's sprints were dominated by senior Wesley Saintilnord who scored nearly a fifth of the team's points Saturday. Saintilnord placed 8th out of over 50 competitors in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.34*. He also scored another 5 points in the men's 200 meter dash by placing 4th out of 66 men by running a time of 22.67*.
The Mountaineers will be back in action at the University of the Cumberlands on April 7th and 8th.
