Men and Women's Track and Field Teams Compete at the Redhawk Invitational

Oxford, OH- The Berea College's Men's and Women's Track and Field team completed in their first of two post-season meets this season when they traveled to the Ohio for the Miami University RedHawk Invitational this past Saturday, April 29th. Several Mountaineers had personal records in the field which included some tough NCAA Division I Competition. Personal records (PRs) will be indicated with (*) next to the performance time of each athlete.

The 5000m started the day off which saw Dylan Watkins (15:47.75) place 12th and Landon Bond (16:16.19) place 17th. The team also had a good showing in the 3000m steeple. Logan McKenzie (9:46.07)* placed 2nd in the event while Corbin Flege (10:23.33) came in 4th.

For the women Emily DeNigris (19:01.16) earned a 6th place finish in the 5000m. The team also had a good showing in the 3000m steeple. Erin Gonterman (12:26.86) came in 2nd while Ivanna Sabino (12:51.91) placed 4th.

In mid-distance events for the women, Jaime Welch placed 11th in the 1500 with a time of 4:52.03. Gabriella Sabino (5:08.57) turned in a 21st place appearance for Berea. As for the 800m run Berea had three solid performances. Megan Hale (2:26.83), Jenna Hughes (2:26,86), and Delaney Williams (2:27.33)* finished 6-8th in the field

In mid-distance events for the men, Caleb Flege placed 22nd in the 1500 with a time of 4:11.88*. Casey Montil (4:12.97) followed behind in 23rd. As for the 800m run, Tanner Carson (1:55.57) was the lone Mountaineer in the event and came in with a 4th place finish.

Sprints also had a good showing. For the men, Million Beshah (53.95) and Samuel King (55.28) had a good showing in the 400m dash. For the women, Kaylee Robinson (59.89) turned in a strong 9th place finish. Wesley Saintilnord finished 8th in the 100m with a time of 11.30 while Aaron Effroe came in 17th with a 11.84. For the ladies Alli Silas was the lone Mountaineers in the 100m and finished 11th with a 13.64.

Richard Brayton (11.54m)* also turned in a good performance in shot put with a 4th place finish on the men's side and Senior Robin Hauschner was 4th in the hammer with a throw of 39.62m.  Maya Riddles finished 6th in the women's shot with a toss of 9.21m.

The running Mountaineers top performers will conclude their post-season at the 2017 University of Kentucky's Kentucky Relays meet in Lexington on May 6th.
