McKenzie has Record-Breaking Run at the Kentucky Invitational

Lexington, KY- The Berea College men and women's track team kicked off their season with an indoor meet hosted by the University of Kentucky.  The teams traveled with only a few members from each team.  McKenzie stole the show winning the 3k in a new school record time of 8:19.09. The meet consisted of primarily NCAA D1 teams. 

Leading off for the men was Ricky Brayton in the Shot Put.  Brayton heaved a 10.61m throw. 

Caleb Flege was the first Mountaineer to compete on the track.  Flege competed in the mile run and opened up his indoor season with a personal best time of 4:35.55.  Tanner Carson was next on the track for the Mountaineers in the 800m.  Carson also ran an indoor personal best time of 1:56.30. 

Logan McKenzie, Corbin Flege and Landon Bond all ran the 3k for the Mountaineers.  McKenzie picked up right where he left off in cross-country.  Leading a good bit of the race McKenzie ran calm.  The pace got hot with about 800m to go and coming out of the last turn Mckenzie fought his way to the line and won with a blazing time of 8:19.09.  This time was not only a personal best for McKenzie but it is also a new school record.  Landon Bond followed running a personal best of 9:13.37 and Flege cross in 9:42.06.
