McKenzie Shatters Steeple School Record

Louisville, KY- The Men's Track and Field team competed in the Bellarmine Invitational on Friday April 6th. The Mountaineers again had a strong showing with Sophomore Logan McKenzie leading the way by winning and posting the top time this season so far in NCAA Division III in the 3k Steeplechase.  

The 100 meter dash was led by Sophomore Zach Campbell with a time of 11.86 and Senior Aldrin Vinton with a time of 12.17. Freshmen Bedjimal Gondre and Corey Carroll also competed in the event. In the 200 meter dash, Corey Caroll won the event with a time of 23.04, and Campbell posted a time of 25.29. In the Men's 400 meter hurdles, Junior Dave Bell posted a strong time of 57.79, finishing 6th in the event.

In the 800 meter run, Junior Tanner Carson led the way for the Mountaineers with a time of 1:55.08. Freshman Kerry Jones, Junior Kyle Young, and Sophomore Landon Bond also posted strong times of 2:01.55, 2:02.26, and 2:04.92 respectively. Junior Corbin Flege, Sophomore Caleb Flege, Freshman Trent Powell, and Senior Zach Raab also ran the event and posted times of 2:07.08, 2:09.26, 2:18.25, and 2:19.86 respectively. In the 1500m run, Tanner Carson won the event and set a PR with a time of 3:57.85. Caleb Flege also ran the event and posted a strong time of 4:10.38, Landon Bond ran a time of 4:11.62, Corbin Flege posted a time of 4:16.77, and Zach Raab rounded out the Mountaineers with a time of 4:32.16. In the Men's 3000 meter steeplechase, Sophomore Logan McKenzie continued his excellent form by winning the event with a time of 9:02.06. This is also the top time for this event in all of NCAA Division III.

In the field events, Dave Bell finished 2nd in the long jump with a jump of 6.60m. Aldrin Vinton also competed in the event a posted a jump of 5.57m. In the shotput, Sophomore Richard Brayton posted a throw a 11.35m. Junior Tyler Harris and Sophomore Dylan Angiolillo also competed in the event and threw distances of 8.24m and 8.16m. The Javelin Throw was also led by Brayton with a throw of 32.42m, with Sophomore Jacob Beckman posted a throw of 22.66. Harris and Angiolillo also threw in the event and recorded distances of 22.44m and 19.85m.

The Mountaineers will back in action in the Centre Twilight Meet on April 13th.
