Mountaineers Place Third At Centre Twilight

Danville, KY – This Friday, the Mountaineers competed at Centre College's annual Centre Twilight meet. The men placed 3rd out of 12 competitive teams and had several great performances.

To start up for the Mountaineers, Junior Tanner Carson ran his first ever 3000 meter steeplechase in 9:56, earning his 1st place. In the 4x100 meter dash, running 43.78, senior Aldrin Vinton, sophomore Zach Campbell, junior Dave Bell and freshman Corey Carroll placed 5th. In the next event on the track, sophomore Logan McKenzie won the 1500 with a time of 3:58. Freshman Kerry Jones followed McKenzie, running 4:16 and earning 12th place.

In the 400 meter dash sophomore Zach Campbell ran a time 54.85, and finished in 14th place. Campbell also competed in the 200 meter dash, ending with a 24.63. Freshman Corey Carroll ran 11.082 in the 100 meter dash and finish in 2nd. Berea's Aldrin Vinton and Bedjimal Gendre also ran in the 100, finishing 24th and 28th with a time of 12.34 and 13.06. In the 800 meter dash, McKenzie and Carson came back for more impressive performances. McKenzie crossed the line first with a time of 1:53.87. Carson finished 3rd and ran 1:56.58. Freshman Kerry Jones and Trent Powell finished 17th and 30th, running 2:06 and 2:16.

Other first place wins for Berea goes to junior Dave Bell in the 400 meter hurdles. Bell's time finished 56.20. Landon Bond, sophomore, won the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:48. Following Bond, senior Zachary Raab placed 6th, and ran in a time of 16:21. Junior Corbin Flege earned 7th place, running 16:22. Other finishers for Berea include sophomore Caleb Flege and Kyle Young, who placed 11th and 14th, running a time of 16:38 and 16:58. Rounding out the event on the track, the men's 4x 400 team faught hard and ended with a 3rd place finish. This relay team ran 3:29 and the members where Dave Bell, Tanner Carson, Kerry Jones, and Logan McKenzie.

On the field side, sophomore Richard Brayton threw 30.81 meters in the hammer throw, placing 18th. Tyler Harris also threw, ending with 22.47 meters. Both Brayton (29 m) and Harris (24 m) threw Javelin alongside Dylan Angiolillo (22 m). The trio also took on shot-put, Brayton (11.36 m), Harris (8.01 m), and Angiolillo (7.96 m). Finishing up in the discus, Brayton (30.25 m) and Angiolillo (20.98 m) also competed.

Dave Bell competed in the long jump and ended in 4th. He jumped 6.56 meters. Aldrin Vinton also joined, jumping 5.77 meter, ending in 11th place. In triple jump, Vinton ended in 8th place, with a distance of 11.42 meters.

The men will compete on Saturday, April 21nd at Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY.
