Men's T&F Finish 9th at DePauw Invite

Greencastle, IN – This weekend the Mountaineers traveled to DePauw University to compete in the DePauw Invitational. Berea placed 6th out of 10 highly competitive teams.

Starting off in the sprinting events, sophomore Corey Carroll had an impressive win in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11:15. Following Carroll, junior Zach Campbell placed 18th, freshman John Ball placed 19th, and sophomore Bedjimal Gondre placed 23rd. Corey Carroll also performed very well in the 200 meter dash, placing 2 nd with a time of 22.16. Following Carroll, Zach Campbell placed in 26th, John Ball in 28th, Damian Bowe in 29th, and Bedjimal Gondre in 32nd . In the 110 meter hurdles, Damien Bowe placed 5th with a time of 16.82. Bowe also ran in the 400 meter hurdles, where he placed 15th with a time 0f 1:02.06.

In the 800 meter dash, leading Berea was freshman Johnathan West with a time of 1:59.60, placing 8 th. Sophomore Issac Domenech followed in 13th place, and a time of 2:03.75. Freshman Gage Cousineau and Gabriel Johnson placed 21st and 22nd with times of 2:06.13 and 2:06.30. Leading the 1500 meter dash, Gage Cousineau ran a time of 4:15.68 and placed 7th. Gabriel Johnson ran a time of 4:18.38 and placed 9th, and senior Kyle Young ran a time of 4:25.03 and placed 13th. In a very stacked 5000 meter run, Berea placed 5 men in the top 6. Junior, Logan Mckenzie won the race with a time of 14:57. In second, senior Tanner Carson ran a time of 15:15. Freshman Sair Salgado earned 3rd place with his time of 15:21. In 5th place, freshman Tyler Little ran a time of 15:34, followed by a 6th place finish from junior Landon Bond with a time of 15:44. Other finishers in the 5000 meter run include freshman Jose Villegas (12th, 16:36) and senior Corbin Flege (17th, 17:20).

In the field events, John Ball competed in long jump and ended with a jump of 5.75 meters and 18th place. Sophomore Jared Pritt placed 27th with his jump of 5.28 meters. In the shot put, sophomore Dylan Angiolillo placed 30th and threw a distance of 8.13 meters. Freshman Austin Weber threw a distance of 8.03 meters that placed him 32nd. In the discus, sophomore Jacob Beckman threw 21.92 meters and placed 34th, followed by Dylan Angiolillo in 37th place with a throw of 15.23 meters. In the hammer throw, Jacob Beckman threw 21.06 meters and placed 28th. In the javelin throw, Austin Weber placed 9th with a distance of 41.29 meters and Jacob Backman in 23rd with a distance of 24.17 meters.

Next week the mountaineers will be traveling on Friday to Centre College to complete in the Centre Twilight.
