Men's 4th at Centre Twilight Meet

Danville, KY.- On Friday night the Mountaineers travelled back to Danville to compete in the Centre Twilight Meet hosted by Centre College. Berea earned a combined team score of 67 points, placing 4th out of 10 teams while Division II school Cedarville University won the meet.

In the sprinting events, sophomore Corey Carroll had an impressive second place finish in the 100 meter dash crossing the line in 10.98 seconds. Freshman John Ball also competed in the 100 meters finishing 10th in 12.02. In the 200 meter dash, senior Issac Domenech finished in 23.91 seconds to place 14th while John Ball placed 17th in 24.07. Domenech also had a strong finish in the 400 meter dash where he placed 4th in 51.66 seconds while sophomore Bedjimal Gondre finished 11th in 56.31 seconds. In the 110 meter hurdles, freshman Damian Bowe grabbed a third place finish with a time of 16.66 seconds. Bowe also competed in the 400 meter hurdles where he finished in 1:02.39 finishing 7th while freshman Gabriel Johnson finished just behind in 8th in 1:03.72. In the 4x100 meter relay, Berea finished in 44.93 seconds to place 7th. Berea also had a relay team compete in the 4x400 meter relay where they placed 7th in 3:39.61.

Berea had three top ten finishers in the 800 meter race with senior Tanner Carson placing 3rd in 1:55.25, freshman Johnathon West placing 7th in 1:58.42 and freshman Tyler Little placing 19th in 2:02.62. Freshman Sair Salgado led the Mountaineers in the 1500 meter run where he finished in 4:01.82 to place 4th while Tanner Carson finished 6th in 4:03.15, Tyler little finished 9th in 4:07.78 and Johnathon West finished 10th in 4:09.62. In the 5000 meter run, freshman Jose Villegas crossed the line in 15:50 to place 4th while senior Kyle Young placed 9th in 16:23. The Mountaineers had two of the top three finishes in the 3000 meter steeplechase where junior Logan McKenzie won the event in 9:16 and senior Corbin Flege placed 3rd in 9:58.

John Ball competed in the long jump finishing 17th with a jump of 5.54 meters while sophomore Jared Pritt jumped 5.29 meters to place 19th. In the shot put competition, Berea was led by junior Austin Weber who finished 17th throwing 8.58 meters. Weber also threw 38.75 meters in the javelin to finish in 13th place. Sophomore Jacob Beckman competed in the discus where he threw 22.19 meters to place 4th. Beckman also placed 20th in the hammer throw with a throw of 20.18 meters.

Next up for the Mountaineers is the USA South Conference Championship Meet hosted at home by Berea on April 18th and 19th.
