Men's Cross Country Runs to 13th Place Finish at GLC

Louisville, KY – The Berea College men's cross country team competed at the Greater Louisville Classic this past weekend in the NCAA Division III Pre-Nationals race.  Several of the top NCAA Division III teams from around the country traveled to preview the course that would serve as the 2016-17 NCAA DIII National Championship course.  In a field of almost 400 runners and 43 teams Berea finished a solid 13th place overall. 

Battling back from illness, sophomore Isaiah Dodson lead the way for the Mountaineers crossing the line in 46th place with a personal best time of 26:07.  Senior Jeremy Johnson finished shortly behind Dodson in 61st running 26:22.  Dylan Watkins also ran a personal best of 26:33 and finished in 73rd place.  Freshman Dakota White stepped up for the Mountaineers and a great race crossing the line in 130th place with a time of 27:25.  Kyle Young was the fourth Mountaineer in the top five to set a personal best in the 8k.  Young finished the race in 151st with a time of 27:38.  Casey Monti and Corbin Flege were the next to Mountaineers to finish placing 194th (28:11) and 214th (28:24).

Other finishers for Berea included Landon Bond in 225th (28:39), Nathan Smith 234th (28:45), Raymond McKinney 281st (29:43), Matthew Sargent 315th (30:30), Edwin Silva 317th (30:31), Jose Gonzalez 346th (31:52) and Brandon Yearout in 375th (33:48).

Berea will take a weekend off before heading to Wilmington, OH to compete in the #JennaStrong Fall Classic on Friday, October 14th.  The women's race will start at 4:30pm with the men to follow at 5:15pm.
