Men's Cross Country Places First at Jamboree

Berea, KY- Berea and Center College hosted the annual jamboree men's 5k as the season opener for both colleges. The Berea men's team placed first overall with a score of 17 points, a 46 point lead over the second place team. Places 1-3, along with 5-7 and 9, were all Berea runners.

Logan McKenzie led the race and finished with a first place victory and a final time of 15:14. Second place finisher, and fellow mountaineer, Tanner Carson crossed the finish line not too far behind Logan with a time of 15:32. McKenzie and Carson ran a close race until McKenzie took the lead in the last half of the race. Sair Salgado, a first year athlete, was the third place finisher for Berea with an overall time of 15:50. The rest of the top Mountaineer finishes included Tyler Little, fifth place overall (fourth BC); time of 16:03, Avery Fair, sixth (fifth BC); 16:09, Corbin Flege, seventh overall (sixth BC); 16:11, and Jose Villegas, ninth overall (seventh BC); 16:33.

Berea ultimately took first place as a team over Tennessee Wesleyan followed by Centre College. Berea had nine runners finish in the top 25, five of them being freshman athletes.

It was an exciting race day in Berea. The next meet, the Mike and Mary Kay Invitational, is another home meet that will take place Saturday, September 15th, in Berea.
