Men's XC takes first at Berry College Invite

Rome, Ga.- The Mountaineers took a road trip to Georgia on Saturday to compete in the Berry College Invitational, which will also serve as the site for the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championships in November. Berea won the meet defeating numerous conference opponents and two Division 1 schools.

Junior Logan McKenzie finished in first place, his third first place finish this season, with a time of 25:38 in the 8K race. Teammate Tanner Carson finished in second place right on McKenzie's heels with a time of 25:39. Next to cross the line for the Mountaineers, was freshman Sair Salgado finishing in 26:28 for 22nd place. Rounding out the top five for Berea was freshman Tyler Little, who finished in 26:35 for 26th place, and junior Landon Bond, who finished in 28th place with a time of 26:42.

The Mountaineers hope to repeat their conference championship win from last year as they compete next on October 26th at the USA South Conference meet. The meet will be hosted by Maryville College in Tennessee with the women's race starting at 11 a.m. and the men's race starting at 12 p.m.
