Men's XC takes third at NCAA Regional Championships

Rome, Ga. - The Berea Mountaineers traveled to Berry College in Georgia to compete in the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Cross Country Championships. Berea finished third in the 8k race, out of 33 teams with a score of 107. The Mountaineers' average team time was 26:21.

Running to a first place finish, out of 239 runners, with a time of 25:31 was Logan McKenzie making this his fourth first place finish this season. Tanner Carson was next for the Mountaineers, crossing the finish line with a time of 25:46 and getting fifth place in the race. Berea's Landon Bond placed 26th with a time of 26:31, while his teammate Sair Salgado secured 35th place crossing the finish with a time of 26:49. Tyler Little placed 40th with a time of 27:05 to help secure the third place finish for Berea, while Avery Fair took 83rd place (28:05) and Corbin Flege placed 106th for a time of 28:32.

Logan McKenzie, Tanner Carson, Sair Salgado, and Landon Bond each received medals for placing in the top 35 and each of them obtained All-South/Southeast Region selection honors. The Berea Mountaineers, with a team score of 107, qualified them for the NCAA DIII National Championship with an at-large bid.

Berea's men's cross country team will head to Winneconne, Wisconsin Saturday, November 17 to compete in the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships hosted by The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The men's race will begin at 1:15 p.m.
