Men's XC Finishes 1st in Invitational

Berea, KY.- Berea hosted the Mike and Mary Kay Johnson Invitational over the weekend. The Mountaineers scored a team total of 37 points to place 1st out of 10 teams.

Leading the Mountaineers was senior Tanner Carson who won the 5 mile race in a time of 25:30. Berea had three other competitors earn top 10 finishes with sophomore Tyler Little crossing the line in 26:42 to place 3rd, freshman Luke Wilson finishing close behind in 26:47 to place 4th and senior Logan McKenzie finishing in 27:00 to place 6th. Rounding out scoring for Berea was freshman Colton Bullington who placed 23rd in 28:46. Other finishers for Berea include senior Caleb Flege in 26th (28:55), sophomore Gabriel Johnson in 27th (28:57), sophomore Isaiah West in 33rd (29:23), sophomore Johnathon West in 46th (30:57) and sophomore Gage Cousineau in 47th (30:58).

The Mountaineers will look to continue their strong start to the season on October 5th at the Greater Louisville Classic contested at Tom Sawyer State Park. The race will serve as a pre-nationals race as the same park is the site of the DIII National Championship race in November.
