Men'S XC Finishes 8th in Pre-Nationals

LOUISVILLE, KY.- Berea travelled to Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville over the weekend to compete in the Greater Louisville Classic. The GLC hosted the Pre-Nationals race as Tom Sawyer State Park will also be the site of the Division III National Championships in November.  The team raced 8K with some athletes competing in the blue race and some competing in the Pre-Nationals silver race.

In the silver race, the Mountaineers earned a team score of 220 points to place 8th out of 40 teams and beat numerous teams from the USA South Conference and from the South/Southeast Region. The men also averaged a new school record of 25:16 over 8K. The Mountaineers were led by Senior Logan McKenzie who crossed the line in 24:54 to finish 21st. Senior Tanner Carson finished close behind in 25:01 to finish 29th. Sophomore Tyler Little placed 35th with a time of 25:12 while freshman Luke Wilson finished 46th with a time of 25:16. Rounding out the top 5 for the men was sophomore Sair Salgado with a 90th place finish in 26:00. Also competing in the silver race was sophomore Avery Fair who placed 106th in 26:11 and senior Caleb Flege who finished 203rd in 27:32.

Six athletes competed in the blue race earlier in the day. In this race, Berea finished with a team score of 1135 points to finish 42nd out of 56 teams. The fist Mountaineer across the line was freshman Colton Bullington in 27:15 to place 197th. Next was sophomore Gabriel Johnson in 27:46 to place 261st and sophomore Isaiah West in 28:01 to finish 289th. Other finishes include sophomore Johnathon West in 344th (28:31), sophomore Gage Cousineau in 374th (29:00), and senior Brandon Yearout in 391st (29:19).

Next up for Berea is the Jenna Strong Invitational hosted by Wilmington College on Friday, October 11th.
