Men's XC Wins the Inter-Regional Rumble

Oberlin, Ohio –

The Berea College men's cross country team travelled to Oberlin College to compete in the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble, running against, and placing first in the Men's 8k Varsity race to 39 other teams. This was the last regular season meet of the season.

This impressive run for the mountaineers truly shows the amazing potential they have coming into championship season. With only 30 seconds to separate the #1 to the #5 finisher, the average time was 25:03. This race had over 340 finishers, and finishing first for the Mountaineers, in second place overall, was senior Logan McKenzie with a time of 24:42. Crossing in 12th place, senior Tanner Carson finished in a time of 25:00. Freshman Luke Wilson was next, and placed 17th with a time of 25:06, followed by sophomore Tyler Little in 20th place with a time of 25:07. Rounding out the scorers for the Mountaineers was sophomore Sair Salgado who placed 24th, running a time of 25:13. These 5 individuals collectively earned the team the low score of 75 points that led the team to the win. Other finishers in this race for the Mountaineers included sophomore Avery Fair with a time of 26:17 (102nd), senior Caleb Flege with a time of 27:01 (191st), sophomore Isaiah West with a time of 27:14 (209th), sophomore Gabriel Johnson with a time of 27:23 (223rd), and freshman Colton Bullington with a time of 27:42 (247th).

There were also 3 other individuals who ran in the Men's 8k Open. Finishing first for the Mountaineers in the race was sophomore Johnathan West, placing 105th with a finishing time of 28:19. Following him, senior Brandon Yearout placed 118th with a time of 28:32. Sophomore Gage Cousineau followed, placing 174th and running a time of 29:33.

 

The next race for the men will be the USA South Cross Country Championships in Maryville, Tennessee on Friday, November 1st.
