The softball team kept their same standng in regards to the chase for an at-large bid to the Softball National Championship coming in at #11 again as the fourth week of the USCAA Coaches Poll was released.
The Mountaineers debuted in the initial poll at #10 and dropped to #12 in the second week of the polls and moved up to #11 in the third week of the polls. With 238 points this week, Berea is only 19 points away from jumping into eighth spot in the poll and gaining an at-large bid to the national championship tournament. The top eight teams in the final poll will qualify for at-large bids to the the national championship.
After the release of the third poll, the Blue Crew loss a doubleheader against #16 Tennessee Temple, but swept Midway College and Asbury University in consecutive days. They then went on a three day road trip, the first day traveling to Grayson, KY, where they loss to Kentucky Chrisitan University but beat Hiwasse College. The second day of their three day road trip got cancelled because of rain. The third day road trip was a success as they swept #9 University of Cincinnati-Clermont 8-0 and 11-1 in Batavia, OH.
The fifth week of the poll will be released this Friday, May 1st in the form of bid day. The top eight teams in the bid day polls will qualify for the USCAA Softball National Championship in Akron, OH, May 10th-14th. The full poll can be seen below
