Softball Continue Weekend Winning Streak with Two Wins Over Sewanee

Sewanee, TN- Berea College softball played a double header against Sewanee College this Sunday.

In the top of the first inning Lanham single followed by Mercedes Stanfield single where they stayed to end the inning. In the bottom of the first inning the Tigers scored 0 runs with 1 hit. In the top of the second inning Parsons walked followed by Madison Stanfield's single. Garcia-Maldo walked followed by Howard's double to score Parsons and Stanfield. Setters doubled which scored Howard and Garcia-Maldo. Mercedes Stanfield singled and scored Setters. Parker doubled scoring Mercedes Stanfield which finished out the inning. In the bottom of the second inning the Tigers earned 0 runs on 0 hits. In the top of the third inning Madison Stanfield singled followed by Combs single. Howard doubled scoring Stanfield and Combs where she would stay as the rest of the batters got out. During the bottom of the third inning the Tigers scored 0 runs with 0 hits. In the top of the fourth inning Mercedes Stanfield singled followed by Madison Stanfield's home run. The next batters for the Mountaineers got out. In the bottom of the fourth inning the Tigers scored 1 run on 2 hits. In the top of the fifth inning Howard walked followed by Hackney's double. Lanham singled followed by Mercedes Stanfield's grand slam. Parker doubled where she would stay. In the bottom of the fifth inning the Tigers scored 0 runs on 0 hits.

The Mountaineers won the first game against the Tigers 14-1 on run rule. Mercedes Stanfield led the Mountaineers with 4 hits followed by Madison Stanfield who had 3 hits. Howard had 4 RBI's and picked up the win in the circle.

Hackney doubled followed by Madison Stanfield being walked. Smith singled scoring Parsons and Hackney. Nash reached on a fielder's choice followed by Setters walking which scored Smith. Lanham doubled scoring 3. Mercedes Stanfield homered scoring 2. Parker singled, Hackney singled, and Smith doubled scoring 2. Combs walked followed by Nash singled scoring Smith. The Mountaineers beat the Tigers 21-3 on a run rule. Mercedes Stanfield, Nash Hackney, and Smith all had three hits. Mercedes Stanfield and Smith had 4 RBI's. Smith also picked up the win for the Mountaineers.

The Berea College Mountaineers play Friday at the University of the Cumberlands at 12 with the second game to follow.
