Berea Falls Short In Doubleheader Against Golden Eagles

Berea, KY-  Berea College hosted the Spalding Golden Eagles for a doubleheader.  The Mountaineers fought hard but fell hard in both games.  

Berea College fell to Spalding University 11-7 in the first game. The Eagles chipped away runs each inning and were up 7-1 in the fifth inning. The Mountaineers continued to get hits and earned runs, but overall the Eagles had more hits. The Mountaineers scored 4 runs in the 7th inning but it was not enough to beat the Eagles. Berea was led in batting by Mattingly, Howard, and Parker who had 2 hits each. Howard took the loss in the circle.

In the second game of the day the Mountaineers lost to the Eagles 13-5. The Eagles came out hitting well and were up 13-0 in the third inning. The Mountaineers came back to score 5 runs in the 3rd inning when Howard hit a homerun, and Hackney doubled. This was not enough to beat the Eagles. The Mountaineers were led in hitting by Mattingly, Howard, Parker, Nash and Hackney who had 1 hit each. Parker and Howard both pitched in this game.

The Mountaineers are back in action tomorrow when they play Alice Lloyd for senior day.
