Mountaineers Top Eagles On Senior Day

Berea, KY- The Berea College softball team stayed home this weekend to take on the Alice Llyod Eagels in the last game of the season.  This game was also Senior Night for Kourtney Parker and Lilly Setters.

In the first game of the double header Berea College beat Allice Lloyd 11-3. In the first inning the Mountaineers came out hot and scored 3 runs. Alice Lloyd came back in the 3rd inning earning 3 runs. Berea blew the game away in the 6th inning scoring 5 runs which ended the game due to run rule. The Mountaineers were led in hitting by Mattingly and Parker who each had 2 hits. Howard picked up the win in the circle.

During the second game of the day the Mountaineers beat the Eagles 8-7 in extra innings. The Eagles came out hot in the 4th inning scoring 6 runs. But the Mountaineers came back in the same inning and scored 6 runs of their own leaving the Mountaineers up by 1 run. The Eagles came back in the 7th inning and tied up the game. In the bottom of the 8th inning Parker scored Howard which won the game. The Mountaineers were led in hitting by Howard who had 4 hits. Hackney, Nash, and Mattingly had 2 hits each. Howard picked up the win in the circle.

We want to thank Kourtney Parker and Lilly Setters for dedicating 4 years to the Berea College Softball Program. Over the years they have been leaders and helped the team tremendously. This year Setters led the Mountaineers in batting with an average of 375 followed by Parker closely behind with an average of 368.
