Game One – Berea 0, Mount St. Joseph 2

 

Game Two – Berea 1, Mount St. Joseph 11

 

Berea College (5-9)

Mount St. Joseph (13-4)

 

The Mountaineers and Lions were both scoreless until the third inning. The Lions were able to get runners on with two hits in the bottom of the third inning.  An error from the Mountaineers allowed the Lions to score two unearned runs. Abby Nash was able to get the only hit in the top of the fourth inning and was left on base. Annelise Hackney was able to get a hit followed by a SAC bunt by Kara Winchester. Stanfield hit an infield grounder where Hackney got out. Hallie Mattingly grounded out to end the inning. In the top of the fifth inning Ashley Spencer singled and was moved to second on a SAC bunt by Howard. She was left on base as the next two batters struck out. In the top of the seventh inning Winchester was able to single but she was left on base as well. The Mountaineers fell to the Lions 0-2 during the first game of the doubleheader.

 

Spencer, Nash, Hackney, and Hubbard all had singles for the game. Howard took the loss in the circle.

 

In the second game of the day Audreonna Lindsey homered in the top of the first inning. This put the Mountaineers up 1-0. The lions came out hot and were able to get 8 hits in the bottom of the first inning. They were able to score eight runs off these eight hits. In the top of the third inning Spencer was able to single where she was stuck on base for the inning. In the bottom of the fourth inning the Lions added three runs. The Mountaineers fell to the Lions 1-11.

 

Lindsey led the Mountaineers with a homerun and Spencer was able to get one hit as well.

 

The Mountaineers are back in action Wednesday March 20 as they travel to play USA South Conference opponent Covenant College
