Berea Falls to Covenant in Two Tight Games

Berea (5-11, 1-5 USAS)

Covenant (7-8, 2-0 USAS)

 

Lookout Mountain, Georgia –

Game One – Covenant 2, Berea 0

Game one of the double headers was a well-played defensive game for both teams. No team was able to score until the bottom of the third inning where the Scotts were able to score 2 runs on 2 hits. The Mountaineers were able to string together six hits this game which were scattered through the innings. Neither team had any errors in the field during this game. The Scotts beat the Mountaineers 2-0 during the first game of the double header.

Ashley Spencer and Kinsey Goins led the Mountaineers with two hits each. Howard took the loss in the circle.

 

Game Two – Covenant 3, Berea 2

The Mountaineers were able to get on top in the third inning. Audreonna Lindsey singled to right field followed by Jacqui Howard's SAC bunt to advance Lindsey to second. Spencer singled up the middle moving Lindsey to third. Lindsey was thrown out at home on a steal, but Abby Nash doubled scoring Spencer. The Mountaineers were also able to add one more run in the top of the seventh inning, as Lindsey tripled and Spencer singled to score her. In the bottom of the seventh inning the Scotts were able to score 3 runs to come back and win the game. They scored these runs with 3 hits and one error by the Mountaineers.

Lindsey and Spencer led the Mountaineers with 3 hits each. Winchester took the loss in the circle.

 

The Mountaineers are back in action Saturday, March 23 at home against Piedmont College at 1:00 & 3:00
