Berea Drops Two to Conference Opponent Piedmont

Game 1 – Piedmont 7, Berea 2

The Lions started the game off hot scoring two runs in the top of the first inning off of two hits. The Lions were also able to earn two runs in the third inning off of two hits. In the fourth inning Piedmont added on two more runs off three hits and the Mountaineers were still not able to gain any runs. The lions added one more run in the top of the sixth inning. The Mountaineers earned one run in the bottom of the sixth inning as Howard was able to reach first on an error by the Lions. Spencer moved Howard on a SAC bunt Nash then singled to score Howard. In the bottom of the seventh inning Goins singled followed by Stanfield who was walked. Hackney reached first on an error which scored Goins. The Mountaineers fell to the Lions 7-2.

Goins led the Mountaineers with two hits followed by Nash and Fallis who had one hit each. Howard lost the game in the circle.

 

Game 2- Piedmont 12, Berea 2

In the second game of the day the Mountaineers were able to score one run in the first inning. Spencer singled followed by Fallis reaching on a fielder's choice. Nash singled moving Fallis followed by Hubbard single which scored Fallis. The Mountaineers were able to hold off the Lions until they scored three runs in the top of the third inning. Spencer singled and was able to advance to second on an error. She then advanced to third on a passed ball and Fallis grounded out which scored Spencer. The Lions got hot in the fourth inning scoring four runs on four hits and one error. In the fifth inning the Lions scored five runs off of four hits and two errors by the Mountaineers. Berea lost to Piedmont 12-2 in the fifth inning.

The Mountaineers were led by Spencer who had two hits followed by Nash, Hubbard, and Winchester who each had one hit.

 

 

The Mountaineers are back in action Tuesday, March 26 against Wilmington College at 4:00 & 6:00
